Betws-y-Coed is a village located in the North of Snowdonia it known as the gateway to the Snowdonia national park. The village is very popular among hikers because of the easy access to this area and its nearby location to the most popular walks within the national park.

Gwydir Forest surrounds Betws-y-coed, it is one of the most beautiful forests located in Snowdonia and is very close to some of the most popular mountains in Snowdonia. From Betws-Y-Coed you are able to start many walks into and around Gwydir Forest.
Tryfan is a mountain located in the north of Snowdonia in the Ogwen Valley, it is known as the most recognisable peak in Wales and forms part of the Glyderau group of mountains. Tryfan stands at 918m.

Walks In Betws-Y-Coed

Betws-Y-Coed Hiking Trails
1. Snowdon via Miners Track
Distance - 13 km
Time - 5 h
Elevation - 749 m
Difficulty - Hard
This route up mount Snowdon is considered one of easiest route to Snowdonia's highest peak. The route start in the Pen Y Pass car park and steadily climbs all the way to the summit of Snowdon on the way you will pass 3 lakes, it is an out and back route so once at the summit you are able to retrace your footsteps back to the start point. 2. Tryfan Circular

Difficulty - Hard
Tryfan is one of the most recognisable peaks in the UK. Although just a short walk from car park, Tryfan is a challenging route as there is a lot of scrambling up the North ridge and then back down the south ridge. The name, Tryfan means three rocks, referring to the three rocky peaks that can be seen from most angles of this iconic mountain. Find this route here
3. Swallow Falls

Difficulty - Moderate
This trail to the swallow falls starts in Betws-y-Coed and takes you across footpaths and paved roads through the valley along to the falls, to return you simple re trace your footsteps. 4. Glyder Fawr & Glyder Fach

This circular route around the Glyderau range is one of the most popular in Snowdonia. there are several walking and scrambling routes leading to its summits. The routes up these two mountains are for experienced hikers as there are some tough scrambles especially when going up bristly ridge. 5. Llyn Elsi Circular

Difficulty - Easy
This beautiful short walk around the lovely Llyn Elsi starts in Betws-y-Coed. The route takes you on a steep climb through the woodland until You pass a lovely stream flowing through the woods. There will be once more a short incline until you reach the lakes edge. The route then circles the lake then heads back the way you came. Find this route here
