Cadair Idris
Cadair Idris is a mountain located in south Snowdonia in the Meirionydd area of Gwynedd, Wales. Cadair Idris is a peak, which is one of the most popular in Wales for hikers.

Cymer Abbey

The Mawddach Trail
The Mawddach Trail is a long hike or cylcle route that starts in Dolgllau and finishes in Barmouth. The trail extents between these two locations along Afon Mawddach estuary for 15km. The route takes in the impeccable scenery of Snowdonia.

Aran Fawddwy is a mountain in the south of the Snowdonia National park. It is the highest peak in the Aran mountain range, and is the only peak in Wales outside North Snowdonia above 900m.
The Precipice Walk is one of the most popular walks in southern Snowdonia, the walk start point is just north of Dolgellau. This trail is fairly low level but is surrounded by the tranquil scenery Snowdonia has to offer.

1. Cadair Idris

There are a few different routes up Cadair Idris one of the easiest and closest to Dolgellau is the pony path. The route up is steady and fairly easy to navigate. It's one of the most popular routes up Cadair Idris and offers incredible views along the way. This walk is perfect for beginner hikers. Find this route here
2. Precipice Walk

The Precipice Walk is one of the most popular walks in southern Snowdonia, the trail follows exploring the hills surrounding Llyn Cynwch. The Precipice walk is easily accessible and is a perfect low level family walk it provides great views of the immediate area of Snowdonia. Find this route here
3. Mawddach Trail
Distance - 23.2 km

Difficulty - Moderate
The Mawddach Trail starts in Dolgellau and ends in Barmouth the route is an out and back route which follows the Mawddach estuary along its southern banks. The path is one of the most accessible routes in the whole of Snowdonia although the route is long in distance you are able to shorten this route considering it is an out and back route with not much gradient at all. 4. Llyn Cau
Distance - 4.7 km

Elevation - 371 m
Difficulty - Easy
This route reaches the base of the Llyn Cau which is situated underneath Cadair Idris. The path starts at the Dôl Idris car park and takes you past the Cadair Idris visitor centre before continuing on the Minffordd Path, which runs parallel to the stream to Llyn Cau before eventually reaching Llyn Cau. To return to the start point just re trace your steps. Find this route here
5. Torrent Walk

The Torrent Walk is nearby to Dolgellau and a very popular walk for hikers nearby, this short circular route along the Afon Clywedog offers beautiful views of the river cascading down the gorge. This walk is perfect for familys and a nice gentle day out. Find this route here
