Abernethy National Nature Reserve is one of the largest nature reserves. It stretches from the River Nethy to the top of Ben Macdui, The abernethy nature reserve holds lots of different terrain from pinewood forests, moorland, wetlands and mountains.

Loch Morlich

Loch Morlich is a fresh water loch with sandy beaches situated underneath the Cairngorms mountains. The Loch is home to a water sports centre and a yacht club.

Ben Macdui 

Ben Macdui is the highest mountain in the Cairngorm national park and the second highest mountain in the british isles the summit is 1,309m. Ben Macdui is next to the Cairngorm mountain.

Cairngorm Mountain

The Cairngorm Mountain resort is one of the top tourist attractions in the Cairngorms.  The resort is based over 1000m above sea level and has a resturant, viewing platform, gin bar and shop. There is a railway that can take you up to the resort.

Walks In Nethy Bridge

Nethy Bridge Hiking Trails

1. Loch Morlich

Distance -      5.8 km

Time -                1.5  h

Elevation -      98 m

Difficulty -       Easy

This route does a full loop of Loch Morlich, Along the way you will be treated to views of the loch and its beaches as well as the Cairngorm mountains looming all around. The trail follows a well maintained gravel path. There are many things to stop and do along this path to make a day of walking Find this route here

2. Ben Macdui

Distance -      16.1 km

Time -                7  h

Elevation -      827 m

Difficulty -       Hard

This long hike to Britans second highest mountain the route includes rocky ascents and sometimes unclear paths. The route is not too strenuous but can be difficult to navigate especially on the summit plateau if weather is bad. Find this route here

3. An Lochan Uaine

Distance -      6.4 km

Time -                1.5 h

Elevation -      143 m

Difficulty -       Easy

This path to Lochan Uaine is a relatively easy walk on well-maintained path that take you though the Glenmore woods. Around the loch there are benches to rest and eat when you get to the destination. This walk is perfect for a families day out. Find this route here
